Grading System

Evaluation Committee:

Formed by twelve people, including one Chairperson, one vice Chairperson, six members from west Canada, and six members from east Canada, they are all elected by the Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations. The committee will be re-elected every 4 years, and the finances will be independent.

Procedure:

The evaluation shall be done by not less than five evaluation Committee Members, including one Chairperson or one Vice-Chairperson. No committee member can participate in the evaluation panel for himself/herself.

Standard:

4th degree and under: Wu Ying degree
5th degree: Qualified coach (Sifu)
6th degree and over: Master degree

Method:

For the 5th degree and under: The applicant must demonstrate one bare hand form and one apparatus form. They must also answer questions regarding the techniques and theory or his/her style. The applicant will be then certified after passing the interview for evaluation. For the 5th degree (Qualified Coach), the applicant has to take a First Aid Certification Course before taking the evaluation.

For the 6th degree and up: starts with 50 points (Master degree), interview exempted.

  • 60-69 points: 6th degree
  • 70-79 points: 7th degree
  • 80-89 points: 8th degree
  • 90-99 points: 9th degree
  • 100 points: 10th degree (Top honour of the Grand Grand Master degree)
  • 8th degree to 10th degree require the final approval from the Board of Directors.
  • Teaching experience: up to 50 points / One point allocated for each year of experience.
  • Achievement: up to 25 points / Publishing of any Martial Arts articles,international awards, etc.
  • Contribution: up to 25 points / During the past, any contribution to the Martial Arts society, or any of his/her students obtaining any of the international awards, etc.
  • Power of the Chairperson: Documents to prove the experiences or awards of the applicants may be requested by the Chairperson. The Chairperson has the right to review the application and is able to offer an additional score of not more than 8 points.
  • Application Fee:
    • Level 5 and under: $100
    • Level 6: $200
    • Level 7: $300
    • Level 8: $400
    • Level 9: $500
    • Level 10: free of charge, but donations are accepted

Certificate and Record:

Last years successful applicants were invited to the Chinese Martial Artist Achievement Awards banquet, which was held at the Sheraton Parkway - Toronto North Hotel on Saturday, October 12th, 2002. Certificates were presented during the Awards Ceremony. Special awards were also presented to the successful applicants with a Master degree for his/her achievement.
